This class is perfect for first-time potters or those who need a refresher!
This course will establish an understanding of the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and get you comfortable with the craft. You will be introduced to the basics of wheel throwing, an overview of clay, and various other techniques like trimming, handles and attachments, and glazing.
Curriculum:
Week 1: Wedging and throwing
Week 2: Trimming and throwing practice
Week 3: Throwing and shaping, attachments and handles
Week 4: Glazing
Week 5: Recap
Week 6: Glazing marathon
All classes include student clay, weekly office hours where you can ask our staff any clay questions, daily studio hours 10 am - 9 pm with the exception of other classes and events; please check the open studio schedule before you plan on coming in, and 8 weeks of access to the studio (no new work may be started after week 6)
Please carefully check your schedule before signing up. The first week is mandatory to attend as we give important information about studio procedures and safety. Makeups from week 2 onwards are limited, pending availability. We're not able to offer any refunds after classes have started.
All materials and tools are provided, with additional supplies available for purchase.
We recommend wearing clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty and trimming your nails short.
